DeSoto County SWAT Chapter Hosts "Catch a Wave" Event

On May 19, 2026, the SWAT chapter hosted the 'Catch the Wave' event to celebrate the end of the school year, kick off a healthy and tobacco-free summer, and strengthen recruitment efforts for the upcoming school year.
Participants viewed SWAT recap and testimonial videos, took part in a clothespin decorating activity designed to encourage peer-to-peer recruitment, and engaged in peer-led tobacco prevention education and discussions. The event also featured music, food, and a themed photo opportunity, creating a fun and welcoming atmosphere where students connected with SWAT members and learned more about the movement.
Through these activities, the event increased awareness of tobacco prevention, celebrated the accomplishments of SWAT members throughout the school year, encouraged students to remain tobacco-free during the summer months, and generated interest in joining SWAT for the upcoming school year.
