Tobacco Free Partnership of DeSoto County Kicks Off New Fiscal Year
September 9, 2025

The Tobacco Free Partnership of DeSoto County held its first meeting of the fiscal year with a strong showing of community partners around the table. Representatives from DeSoto Memorial Hospital, Drug Free DeSoto Coalition, Quit Doc Foundation, DeSoto County Chamber of Commerce, DeSoto County Sheriff’s Office, Arcadia Police Department, DeSoto Cares, The Florida Center for Healthy Families, DeSoto High School Project Graduation, RMZ Realty, South Florida State College, and Big Brothers Big Sisters of DeSoto joined together to discuss goals, share updates, and explore ways to advance tobacco prevention efforts in DeSoto County.

A highlight of the meeting was a presentation by Nicole Marquez with the Gulf Coast South Area Health Education Center (AHEC), who shared information about free tobacco cessation programs available to our community. Nicole provided insight on how individuals can access classes, counseling, and support through Tobacco Free Florida’s Quit Your Way services, and encouraged members to help connect residents to these life-saving resources.

We are excited to launch this new year with such strong support from our community partners and look forward to the impact we will make together.
